USD/MXN is trading at 18.3590 (+0.57%), extending its relentless ascent as the peso bleeds against a dollar buoyed by risk-off flows and Mexico’s deteriorating fiscal outlook. The pair now trades 520.2 pips above its 20-day SMA (17.8395) and 1017.3 pips above the 50-day SMA (17.3417) — a textbook uptrend with no meaningful retracement since September. The 20-day dynamic channel remains firmly ascending, with immediate support at 18.1221 (-2369.7 pips) and resistance at 19.1605 (+8015.1 pips), while the 50-day channel shows even steeper support at 17.3499 (-10091.2 pips).

Static levels are now distant memories — the nearest meaningful floor (S1 at 17.8683) sits 4906.7 pips below, last tested in August. RSI at 72.8 screams overbought, but in this momentum-driven environment, such warnings have been futile; the pair has held above 70 for 7 of the past 10 sessions. Today’s push past the pivot (18.3008) puts R1 (18.3881) in play, just 290.9 pips away.

The immediate risk is a technical pullback, but sellers lack conviction until USD/MXN closes below the 20-day dynamic support (18.1221). Confirmation of further upside would come with a weekly close above the 50-day dynamic resistance (18.6656, +3065.9 pips), which aligns with the 52-week high (18.6856). Mexico’s October 27 budget announcement — particularly any deficit widening — could be the next catalyst for a test of record highs.
