USD/TRY is trading at 49.3903 (+0.13%), pressing against all-time highs as the lira’s structural depreciation persists. The pair remains firmly in an uptrend, trading above both the 20-day (48.9551) and 50-day (48.4287) SMAs, with the 20-day dynamic resistance trendline (49.4530) just 62.7 pips away. Both 20-day and 50-day channels are ascending, confirming the bullish bias, though the RSI at 85.1 signals extreme overbought conditions that may trigger profit-taking. The nearest static resistance (R1 at 49.3971) is a mere 6.8 pips above current levels, while support at S1 (49.2222) sits 1,681 pips below—a shallow cushion that underscores the lira’s vulnerability to abrupt corrections.

The lira’s weakness reflects Turkey’s persistent inflation (last reported at 38.2% YoY) and unorthodox monetary policy, with the central bank maintaining negative real rates. Market participants appear to be front-running potential intervention risks, as the CBRT has historically stepped in near round-number levels. A break above 49.4530 (20-day dynamic resistance) could accelerate momentum toward 50.00 psychological resistance, though the extreme RSI warns of near-term exhaustion. Downside risks are limited to profit-taking unless USD/TRY breaches the 20-day dynamic support (48.8203, -5700.5 pips).

The next catalyst is Turkey’s October inflation print (due November 3)—another upside surprise could force the CBRT into reactive tightening, potentially stalling the lira’s slide temporarily. Until then, the path of least resistance remains higher.
